Blog 2: My best vacation ever!

My best vacation ever took place in southern Africa in the summer of 2018. I went with my cousins Juan de Dios and Nicolás and visited a lot of cities, historic places and saw a lot of wild animals too!

We first arrived to Johannesburg and immediately rented a car, and then for about one entire month we went from one city to another, it was so much fun! We went to the Apartheid Museum, to the Kruger National Park and saw all the big five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo), which is a very hard thing to do; visited Nelson Mandela’s house in Soweto and Robben Island, where he was imprisoned for 18 years. We also did shark cage diving, which is one of the most thrilling things I’ve ever done in my life, the shark got to be too close to the cage! The last thing we did before coming back was going to Ultra Music Festival in Cape town, literally hours before taking the plane back to Chile! I had a really good time despite I didn’t like that kind of music then.

We also went to Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland, which are South Africa’s neighboring countries. I will always remember this vacation as the most crazy I’ve ever had.

I want to visit Bhutan because I’ve never been to Asia before and it’s a continent that I really want to visit. I’d like to see how different their culture is. I don’t really know much about the country, except that it’s located in the southern slopes of the Eastern Himalayas, and I’ve heard that it’s very calm there. Visiting Bhutan would be like a spiritual retirement. I have to do some research before I go because I don’t know what I’d like to do when I get there, I just know that I want to go. Maybe I’ll just be wandering around the cities.

I’d like to study buddhism, learn how to meditate properly and not to be attached to material possessions, but I wouldn’t like to be there forever, just a couple years and then come back to Chile. Being so far away from my family and friends for the rest of my life is something I don’t think I’m capable of.

Blog 8: Summer Plans

So my summer plans are not quite defined yet, but with my dad and siblings are planing to go somewhere out of Chile. Last summer we didn...
